Venus is the Romanised or Latinised name for the Greek goddess Aphrodite. And you could argue she is the Greco version of her Sumerian and Babylonian ancestors Inanna, Ishtar and Astarte.

What this shows is that this celestial body in our solar system, the 2nd planet from the sun, has had many many life-times. We’re pretty confident we only know the tiniest percentage of them.

In Mythology

Myth is perhaps our only true path back in time. By studying the mythos, we re-find the lost language and sacred stories that held the Feminine as a divine and integral part of society, culture and everyday life.

Part of how VRC will live up to its purpose is by restorying the ‘ance-story’ of the primordial creatrix that is Venus, because many of the narratives that have been handed down to us (though we’re grateful we’ve got them) are products of a patriarchy that overshadowed the wonderful wisdom of Gaia and the intelligence of the Feminine.

In Astrology

Technically, and gender-ly, Venus is the only other Feminine sky-body besides the Moon and Lilith, so naturally (perhaps) she holds a lot of the themes related to femininity.

She is love, romantic and Self, but also all the ways in which we relate - whether that’s with people, beings and material objects.

She rules over the signs Taurus and Libra, and in turn oversees their houses in an astro*chart - the 2nd and the 7th.

Through Taurus, she is our value (self and money) and our valuables. Personal material wealth. She is the sensual and sensuality. She is the aesthetic and the aesthete. Beauty and style. Adornment.

Through Libra, she is balance and harmony, including the accordance we achieve in relationships. The Empress; judicial and sovereign, especially when we consider the patronesses and goddesses of prehistoric societies who oversaw war and peace, love and law. We’ll share more on this soon!
